Political Discussion Group – Thurs., Oct. 29, 7:30 p.m. on Zoom
The UUFSB Political Discussion Group is being reactivated! We will meet monthly on Zoom to discuss selected political topics. Our “return” meeting will be on Thurs., Oct. 29, at 7:30 p.m.
Our format will be different from the original version. We asked members to submit suggestions and have selected Artificial Intelligence (AI) as the first meeting topic from these. Some questions we might consider: What exactly do we mean by AI; how is it qualitatively different from the computer technology we were accustomed to? What are the concerns being voiced, including from within the industry? Is self-regulation by AI companies sufficient? How can we use this technology to make the world a fairer place and keep it from widening the divide between rich and poor? Please bring your thoughts and questions.
Attendees should be prepared for an active discussion, similar to a book or movie discussion group. Going forward, the topic for the next month will be selected collectively at the end of each meeting. The group will meet on the final Thursday of each month.
