“Just Say Yes to Our UU Shared Values in the Voting Booth”

The 2024 election is about much more than the presidency. New Yorkers are being asked to vote on the proposed New York State Equal Rights Amendment in Proposition 1. This guarantees our rights and reproductive freedom so they are permanently protected and closes loopholes in our state constitution so New Yorkers, no matter who we are, can never be discriminated against by the government. It’s about democracy, equality, justice, transformation, pluralism, interdependence …sound familiar?

Irma Solis is the Director of the Suffolk Regional Office of the New York Civil Liberties Union which is a member of the New Yorkers For Equal Rights Ballot Initiative, and long time friend of UUFSB. She will explain the Proposition and explore how it represents our UU values in action, and how each of us can help.
