News from June’s Board Retreat

The Board of Trustees met on June 29 to welcome Peg Espinola and Nancy Koch as new members to the Board. The executive team was selected with John Lutterbie serving as President, Marian Russo Vice President, Rich Hall Treasurer, and Nancy Koch Secretary assisted by Peg Espinola. The other Board members are Charlie Posey, Denise Stevenson, Lorraine Stidd, and Dave Tarbell.

The retreat focused on several issues, the most important being improving communication between the Board, the committees and the congregation, developing a fundraising plan to “Buurn the mortgage”, and how to create a year of stimulating services if we are unable to secure a minister for the coming year.

One decision is to have a Town Hall meeting each month to solicit input on the plans the BOT is making to help us become more sustainable. If a committee would like to run one or more of the Town Halls, the Board will happily let them run the meeting. Please remember that you are welcome to observe Board of Trustees meetings. Let us know that you wish to attend, and we will send a Zoom link. If you would like to speak at a meeting, let us know what you would like the Board to be aware of, and we will put you on the agenda. Please note, to get on the agenda you need to contact a member of the Board two weeks before the meeting.

Finally, the merger plan voted on at the annual meeting was also approved by the congregation of the Great South Bay and has been filed with the Suffolk County Clerk’s Office. What were two are now one.

We look forward to working with you to celebrate another wonderful year at UUFSB.
In Fellowship,
John Lutterbie, Board President
