Children will develop age appropriate understandings of their religious identity, our seven Unitarian Universalist principles and of their own spirituality, using lessons from the Questing Year and Stepping Stone Year curricula. YOUTH GROUPS
Sixth – Eighth Grades: Middle School
Leaders: Nancy Hunter, Deborah Hempe
The Compass Points and Traditions with a Wink curricula enable youth to begin to sort out their feelings about themselves and their world, discover what they believe about life’s big questions - the nature of humanity and God, beliefs about death and faith - and to acquire enough background in Unitarian Universalist history and theology that they can know and express what Unitarian Universalism is and stands for.
Ninth –Twelfth Grades: Sr. High Youth
Sunday Morning -Leader: Gil Hanson
Evening Youth Group-Leaders: Melissa Elliott and Lori Jones
In these groups, young people meet and discuss topics ranging from current issues in Unitarian Universalism and other religions, to their spirituality. The morning group is working on a Unitarian Universalist Identity service they will lead on Oct. 25. The evening group, which meets from 5:30-7:30 pm, is planning for a CON, which they are hosting here at UUFSB on Oct. 16-18. Youth will also select social action projects such as Christmas Magic and Midnight Run. |
